Lincolnshire County Council is to resurface two Grantham roads as part of a £1.4m repair programme across the county. Rosemary Crescent and Granta Crescent will be among the roads treated between 5 August and 30 September.
The scheme will also cover residential roads and concrete repairs in Skegness, Boston, Spalding, Lincoln and Gainsborough. The council said the work aims to improve driving conditions and reduce the need for more significant maintenance later.
Why the work is needed
Cllr David East, Executive Member for Highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "People tell us time and again that the condition of local roads matters to them, which is why we're continuing to invest in improvements like these across the county."
He added: "While many of these type of roads are still structurally sound, resurfacing them now helps prevent further deterioration and means we can avoid more extensive repairs later on."
What the work involves
Improving the concrete roads involves replacing the top layer of the carriageway and repairing damaged slabs where needed. Most work will take place between 7.30am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. Work on Westbrooke Road in Lincoln will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am.
Road closures and access
Road closures and signed diversion routes will be in place while individual schemes are completed. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained wherever it is safe and practical.
In some locations, replacement concrete will need time to cure before roads can reopen, so sections may stay fenced off for a short period after work has finished. Residents directly affected will be contacted separately.
Expected benefits
Once the schemes are completed, road users can expect smoother surfaces, improved skid resistance and less traffic noise. Cllr East thanked residents for their patience while the work is carried out.
