Lincolnshire County Council has announced that the bridge for the Grantham Southern Relief Road has successfully crossed the East Coast Main Line, marking a major step forward for the project.
The 293-metre bridge, which weighs 2,500 tonnes, is being moved into its permanent position across the railway and River Witham. The structure is continuing its careful journey into place following the crossing of the rail line.
Two spans remaining
Two more spans must be completed before the bridge is fully across. The team remains on track to have the bridge completely in position by mid-October, which will mark another major milestone as the scheme moves towards its next stages of construction.
