Two Grantham roads are due to receive preventative treatment on Thursday 20 August 2026 as part of a countywide programme to protect local carriageways from deterioration.
Bluegate and Church Street will be treated with road preservation — a cost-effective preventative method that helps protect road surfaces from ageing and potholes.
What is road preservation?
Road preservation seals small cracks and voids in the road surface, creating a waterproof barrier that prevents water from entering and damaging the carriageway. The treatment appears as a dark layer painted onto the existing road surface.
By tackling issues at an early stage, the method can significantly extend the life of a road and reduce the likelihood of potholes and more extensive repairs being needed later.
Countywide programme underway
The countywide programme began on Monday 27 July in Market Rasen. It will treat approximately 67,299 square metres of carriageway across Lincolnshire, with much of the work focused on residential estate roads.
The programme will progress through Market Rasen, Middle Rasen, Nettleton, Louth, Gainsborough, Laughterton, Lincoln, Marton, Saxilby, Tattershall, Witham St Hughs, Ashby de la Launde, Woodhall Spa, Grantham, Long Sutton, Bracebridge Heath and Ruskington.
Works are carried out during summer months because the treatment requires warm and dry weather conditions.
