Sunrise Medical, a leading UK mobility aid manufacturer, has launched a community fund to support people with reduced mobility across Grantham. The £5,000 fund aims to help break down financial and practical barriers that prevent people living with mobility challenges from fully participating in their communities.
What the fund supports
The initiative will support projects, opportunities and improvements that make community spaces and experiences more accessible. This includes creating wheelchair-friendly and inclusive environments and enabling participation in activities that matter to applicants.
The fund has been designed to support disabled people in accessing activities, goals and aspirations that may otherwise be difficult due to mobility-related barriers and associated costs. Examples given include funding accessible accommodation for family trips, making belated honeymoons possible, and travel adaptations that enable people to see the Northern Lights. For others, support might cover a supervised beach visit using specialist mobility equipment, or assistance to walk down the aisle on a wedding day with the help of a standing wheelchair.

Lucy Evans, Head of Marketing at Sunrise Medical, said the company is encouraging people to share their stories and explain what experience, opportunity or support would make the biggest difference to them.
"We know that the right support can help remove barriers and create more opportunities for people to take part in the moments and experiences that matter the most to them," Evans said.
Applications will be reviewed by a selection panel made up of representatives from Sunrise Medical. Entries will be assessed based on the potential impact the funding could have on the applicant's quality of life, with a particular focus on helping people living with mobility challenges turn aspirations into reality and achieve personal ambitions.
