Shirley Anne Hall, a Grantham resident of many years, has died aged 88. She passed away peacefully at Royal Windsor Care Home on 18 July 2026.

Shirley is survived by her husband Graham, to whom she was married for 68 years, her daughters Valerie and Lynda, three grandchildren — George, Nicholas and Kari — and one great-grandchild, Thomas.

Early life and work

Shirley grew up in Grantham and attended St Anne's and Barrowby Primary Schools and the Girls' Central School. She worked full-time as a mother until her daughters were older, then spent many years at BMARCO, Grantham, where she latterly held a clerical role in the Gauge Inspection department.

In 1986, she left work to accompany her husband Graham, who was sent to work in Singapore for a year. The move extended to seven years of travel, new friendships and opportunities abroad. The couple retired in 1993 and settled in Elms View, Great Gonerby.
