South Kesteven District Council (SKDC) has called a by-election to fill a vacant seat for St Wulfram's Ward in Grantham. The by-election is scheduled for Thursday 22 October 2026.
The by-election has been called to ensure local people are fully represented in the local decision-making process.
How to stand as a candidate
Anyone interested in standing as a candidate must submit completed nomination papers before 4pm on Friday 25 September. Papers must be signed by both a proposer and a seconder, who must both be registered local government electors in Grantham St Wulfram's ward.
Nomination papers and information packs are available from the SKDC website or directly from the SKDC Elections Team by calling 01476 406080 or emailing elections@southkesteven.gov.uk.
Completed forms must be delivered by hand to the office of the Returning Officer at South Kesteven House, St Peter's Hill, Grantham, NG31 6PZ between 10am and 4pm on weekdays until Friday 25 September. Appointments to deliver papers should be booked by email to nominations@southkesteven.gov.uk.

SKDC Chief Executive Karen Bradford, who is also the Returning Officer for the by-election, said: "This is an opportunity for someone to represent the views of local people, to support residents with their issues, and help shape their neighbourhood by driving ideas."
She added: "The role of a councillor is to serve and represent everyone in the ward that they are elected to, and no experience is necessary – there is lots of support available to anyone who wants to be elected to become part of local decision-making."
Elections officers are available to help candidates with advice and to assist with completing paperwork. They can also informally check nomination papers ahead of submission.
