Drivers in Grantham are being warned to allow extra time for journeys through the Barrowby Road, North Parade and Broad Street junction, where temporary traffic signals are currently in operation.

What happened

The permanent traffic signals at the junction were damaged during road surfacing works. The damage occurred when unexpectedly shallow ducting was discovered beneath the road.

Repair schedule

Lincolnshire County Council has scheduled repairs to the ducting for Thursday evening, 16 July. The replacement of the damaged signal cable will take place from Tuesday, 21 July.

The permanent signals are expected to be fully operational by the end of Wednesday, 22 July, provided the repair work proceeds as planned.

What drivers should do

Motorists should anticipate delays from the temporary lights until the permanent signals are restored. Allowing extra time for journeys through the junction is advised.
