Wyndham Park is launching a free bike security marking scheme to help reduce bicycle theft in the area. Park volunteers have been trained to apply anti-tamper postcode stickers that link bikes to a police database, enabling stolen bicycles to be quickly returned to their owners if recovered.
The service is available to anyone visiting the park during opening hours at the Visitor Centre, including residents, visitors, commuters and cycling enthusiasts.
How the scheme works
When a bike is stolen, it can be reported on a police website. If the bicycle is later recovered, the security marking allows it to be quickly returned to its owner.
Getting your bike marked
The security stamping must be done on site and cannot be taken home as a kit. Details of times and dates are available at the Wyndham Park Visitor Centre and on South Kesteven District Council's Facebook page.
Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure Cllr Paul Stokes said the scheme aims to raise awareness among local cyclists and reduce bicycle theft.
