A free evening commemorating Grantham's role during the Second World War will take place on Friday 18 September at St John's Church, Station Road East, Grantham.
The event, organised by Grantham Remembers as part of Heritage Week, runs from 6pm and includes a talk by Dr John Manterfield, a local historian and author, followed by a concert with singalong featuring Helen Winter as soloist and musical director and the St John's Winter Singers.
What to expect
Doors open at 5:45pm. Dr Manterfield's talk on Grantham in WW2 begins at 6pm, with an interval and exhibition at 7pm. The concert and singalong starts at 7:30pm.
Refreshments and a licensed bar will be available. Guests are welcome to wear period costumes; Cinderella's on London Road has costumes available for hire.
Support and proceeds
The event is supported by Lincolnshire Fire Aid, which will display vintage engines. All raffle ticket sales and flag sales will benefit St John's Church and the Royal British Legion. Other proceeds go to St John's Church fund.
